Stress-Relief Center coming to U.S. 280

With location, location and location being the real-estate mantra, it makes sense that a newfangled stress-relief clinic would land on U.S. 280.

The American Health Research Institute is building a 12,000-square foot, two-story building at 500 Cahaba Park Circle, just off the busy highway. 

The $1.8 million facility will house AHRI's corporate offices and its first Center for Mind Body-Medicine, said project manager Robert Hester.

New Local Spa Licensed By The Chopra Center

Lecturer, physician and alternative medicine author Dr. Deepak Chopra briefly visited Birmingham this year and firmed up a relationship that is about to materialize.

The Center for Mind-Body Medicine plans to hold a grand opening Aug. 25 for its 17,000-square-foot facility off U.S. Highway 280 on Cahaba Park Circle.

Amrik Walia, warm welcome landed license

In February, a slightly surprised Deepak Chopra lectured to a nearly full house at The Alabama Theatre.

That warm welcome, plus a newly-formed relationship with Birmingham immunologist and alternative medicine physician Amrik Walia, led to a collaboration that will bring the poet-prophet of alternative medicine to Birmingham on a regular basis - including Saturday's day-long workshop at the Richard M. Scrushy Conference Center.
